Scuba Diving Certification Fort Lauderdale Florida

Getting Certified To Scuba Dive Fort Lauderdale Florida

No matter your path, I want to personally congratulate you on your excellent decision to become a certified scuba diver.  Scuba diving is by far one of the most rewarding and fascinating hobbies you could have chosen to pursue.  In order to get started you are going to need to get certified.  Upon completion of the Open Water Diver certification you will obtain a C-card or dive license.  This card will be your passport to the underwater world no matter where your travels take you.  So how long does the open water course take?

As long as weather permits you can knock out the course in only 3 days.  The first day there is a classroom session that takes about 5-6 hours.  There are 5 chapters each taking approx 45 min to an hour to complete a knowledge review and quiz.  After the final multiple choice exam you can put on your swim suit because it's time to get wet.  Confined water sessions 1-5 in a swimming pool take about 2-3 hours depending on how quickly you can master a few skills.  It can be a lot of information and skills to absorb in one day which is why 4 days for the course are usually recommended.

Once you have completed the classroom session and pool sessions you only need to complete 4 open water dives before you are a certified open water diver.  Training dives are limited to a max of 3 per day so typically the 4 certification dives are done over 2 days.  Each day consisting of a 2 tank boat trip to a local reef and wreck.  Dive trips depart each morning right near Fort Lauderdale beach.  Sometimes the sea can get rough due to high winds in winter months particularly and boat diving is not always possible.  However, there is a fresh water lake training facility in Dania Beach only a few min away ideal for open water training. After completing the open water dives you will receive a temporary certification card and can begin to dive, with a buddy of course, without the supervision of a scuba diving professional right away.  In just a few weeks your hard copy C-card or dive license will arrive in the mail with your picture.

If you share the love of the ocean as so many of us do, becoming a certified diver can open your eyes to so many new travels and experiences.  As a certified diver for 8 years and an open water scuba diving instructor for 2, I assure you that you will never regret your decision to become a certified open water scuba diver.  Scuba diving changed my life forever for the best as every day I wake up, see the ocean, and get to  teach people how to dive for the first time.  I am not saying it will necessarily change your life but I assure you having the right dive instructor can make all the difference in the experience of getting certified.  If you are local or traveling to the Fort Lauderdale area please contact me and I promise to provide the best experience possible.
